In the movie starring Alan Alda's father, Robert Alda, we're shown the young George fitting his fingers to the depressed keys on a player piano. While there may be some truth in that, the reality is he had real piano teachers and a lot of native talent.

David didn't have much time for songwriting for his first album which had to me mostly completed during the Idol tour. When you include the digital and CD bonus tracks, David had one full write (Falling) and four co-writes (A Little Too Not Over You, Don't Let Go, Works for Me, Somebody Out There). David also co-wrote Zero Gravity which was released later. For his 2nd pop album, David is participating in a lot of the writing, in both LA and Nashville. But many more songs are written than end up on the album. It will be interesting to see how many Archuleta co-writes make it to the album.
