Well, YOU don't. It's cheaper just to go to a paint store and buy some. But if you really insist, start by establishing an inert gas atmosphere--argon, CO2 or something like that--at 200 degrees C. Next, stir together: * 1170 parts maleic anhydride * 450 parts phthalic anhydride * 450 parts propylene glycol * 1200 parts dipropylene glycol "Parts" here is by weight as all these things have different specific gravities, so you couldn't do it by volume. This will start out acidic and get less so as you stir. Now is the time to introduce the "acid number." A product is "neutral" when its pH is 7. The "acid number" is the milligrams of potassium hydroxide (KOH) needed to bring one gram of product to pH 7; stir this until its acid number is 45 mg KOH/gram resin. When you're there, cool the product to 160 degrees C (which stops the reaction) and add 0.64 parts hydroquinone. Lower the temp to 120C and add 43 parts palmytic acid. Lower the temp to 110C and add 1285 parts styrene monomer. Once this cools down, to use it you add fifteen drops of methyl ethyl ketone peroxide to each 30ml resin, and stir. Stir until the resin turns cloudy, then stir one minute more. Use quickly, because once it starts to get thicker--what we call "gel"--it's no good anymore.
