Tablespoon is a measure of volume, pound is a measure of weight. The number would differ depending on the density of the substance.
1/2 a stick of butter
4 ounces or 8 tablespoons
Depends what the substance is
That is 8 tbsp.
20 grams of butter are equal to approximately 1 1/2 tablespoons. To get to this you figure a stick of butter is 1/4 of a pound which is about 113g. And the same stick of butter is 8T. So, divide 113 by 8 and you end up with each T equalling 14.1g. So 1 1/2 T of butter is actually 21g. And 20g is closer to 1.4T. But, I like butter, so it works for me.
A tablespoon of butter is approximately 14.1875 grams. This can change based on the total content of milk solids, but not by much.
a pound of butter does.
A Tablespoon is 3 oz. A pound is 16 oz. That being said, 5 Tablespoons and 1 Teaspoon equal a pound. (16 oz [1 lb.] / 3 oz [1 Tbsp] = 5 with 1 oz. remaining.) (There are 3 teaspoons in 1 Tbsp, which would equal out to 1 tsp. being 1 oz. [the remaining 1 oz.])
1/8 Cup is 2 Tablespoons, or 12.5% of a Cup. For memory purposes, there are 8 Tablespoons in a cube (=1/2 Cup) of butter. Then, 4 Tablespoons in 1/4 Cup, and 2 Tablespoons in 1/8 Cup (the standard Mr. Coffee size measuring spoon, which is half as big as a 1/4 Cup measure). Notice something else here, there are 4 cubes in a pound of butter, so each cube is 1/4 pound in weight (and 1/2 Cup in volume). Have you heard the aphorism "A pint's a pound the world around"? A pint is 2 Cups. Two Cups (of stuff that is roughly the same density as water) weigh a pound.
2 ounces of water is 4 tablespoons
1/2 a stick of butter
That is about 9 tbsp
There are 32 tablespoons in a pound of butter.
A pound of butter equals two cups. One cup equals 16 tablespoons, therefore one pound of butter is 32 tablespoons.

One third a pound of butter should be about 11 tablespoons, or 1 stick plus 3 tablespoons butter.
One 1/2 a stick of butter is equal to 1/8 of a pound or two ounces or 1/4 of a cup. It is also approximately 4 tablespoons.
32 tablespoons per pound -- just count the tablespoons in one stick (1/4 #) and multiply x 4
That is 12 tablespoons
