The differnence between a total solar eclipse and a partial solar eclipse is that a total solar eclipse you can see the moon appear to cover the sun completely and then the sky becomes dark that you can see the stars and a total solar eclipse lasts no longer than about seven minutes. The partial solar eclipse is similar to a total solar eclipse except that the moon never completely covers the sun.

Total eclipse is when, for a few moments. the moon passes between sun and earth and completely blocks off sunlight to earth. In partial eclipse the moon does not pass completely between sun and earth allowing some sunlight through.
In a total eclipse the sun and the moon line up pretty much perfectly so that it completely blocks the sun from view. In a partial eclipse the alignment is not as perfect, and the moon does not cover the sun completely.
Partial- When the moon only covers some of the sun so some light still peeks throughTotal- the moon covers the sun completely and no light can come through
A solar eclipse may be partial, total, or annular.
You will see a partial eclipse if you are in the penumbra.
No. The next solar eclipse will be a partial solar eclipse on June 1, 2011.
There are four different types of solar eclipse, namely Partial eclipse, Annular eclipse, Total Eclipse and Hybrid Eclipse. A partial solar eclipseoccurs when only part of the Sun is covered by the Moon which appears to take a "bite" out of the Sun.
There were no total solar eclipses during 2007. There was one total lunar eclipse, one partial lunar eclipse, and two partial solar eclipses.

A partial solar eclipse (when the moon passes between the earth and the sun) is when the moon only partially obscures the sun. A total solar eclipse is when the moon totally obscures the sun. A lunar eclipse is when the earth passes between the moon and sun, and earth's shadow eclipes the moon.
It is as your question states, partial solar eclipse - the moon only blocks the sun off from earth partially. Total solar eclipse - the moon completely blocks the sun off from earth.
i am 100% sure that it is called a total solar eclipse when it stays between them but there is also partial solar eclipse where the earth has a total shadow and a partial shadow on it. i know this because im a sixth grader.Embarrasing huh?
Quite soon! There will be a partial solar eclipse on January 4, 2011. From Dublin, it will be about 36%.

The difference is vanishingly small. For all practical purposes, they may be considered essentially one and the same.

It is a new Moon. For a solar eclipse, the moon has to be between Earth and the Sun. We get a total lunar eclipse when Earth is between the Sun and the Moon. The Moon would have to be full for it to be eclipsed.
In a solar eclipse, the Moon is between the Sun and the Earth, casting a shadow on the Earth. In a lunar eclipse, the Earth is between the Sun and the Moon, casting a shadow on the Moon.
