What is the longitude line for the International Date Line?

Most of the International Date Line is located along the 180 degrees longitude line. However, it crosses as far as 170 degrees east and west longitude to accomodate to certain countries having the same time zone internally.

The International Date Line (IDL) roughly follows the 180° longitude which is called the 180th meridian or antimeridian. The line deviates to pass around some territories and island groups (Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, etc). The Date Line deviates from the straight line of longitude to keep it from passing through countries such as the USA (Alaska), Russia (Wrangel Island and Chukchi Peninsula), or New Zealand, and island nations such as the Marshall Islands and the Aleutian Islands.

While the concept of the IDL was to follow the 180th meridian, in reality, it swings quite wildly, effecting more of a zig-zag path, so that certain countries which straddle the 180th meridian don't end up on different sides of the IDL. The extremes of the IDL are 150 W and 170 E.
