Orion got its name from Artemies. Orion was a great hunter. Atemies brother, Apollo, tricked his sister Artemies and Artemies killed Orion. After she found out it was a trick from her brother, she felt bad for him that she put him up in the sky with his name

another version is that Orion was fighting with a scorpion but got killed by the scorpion. so Artemies put both of them into the sky. But she put them up into the sky in the opposit side of the sky.
The Orion constellation got its name due to the fact that it resembled the character Orion from mythology. Orion was a great hunter and the constellation resembles a hunter.

After Artemis made an oath to virginity, she met Orion. She fell in love with him and Apollo disapproved of this. One day, Apollo saw Orion swimming and Artemis laying down on the beach. He went to Artemis and told her that she probably couldn't shoot the thing way off shore. Not knowing it was Orion, she shot "it" and of course hit it. Later, Orion's body washed ashore and Artemis found out what she had done. She then placed him in the stars.

It is a diffusion nebula, The Great Orion Nebula is located in the constellation, Orion(the hunter). If you want to find it, look at "Orion's Belt" and go in between Alnilam and Alnitak, the two stars to the left on Orion's Belt. go down and you will see a line of stars, faint, but they are there. take a telescope(for best results) or even binoculars, and look in this region. You will see it right off the bat. It is REALLY hard to miss.

Orion was a great hunter in the legends of the ancients. The constellation reminded the ancients of the legend. Once they saw the man, the three stars fit as a belt with a sword hanging off of it, just as the imagined a hunter would have.

Much like all other nebulae, the Carina Nebula is a loose collection of duct, hydrogen and helium gas, and plasma. Carina has a huge number of extremely active stars, Eta Carina--a super massive star in the Carina Nebula--ejected about 17% of its mass, visible from Earth in the 1880's, and began forming the Homunculus Nebula within the larger Carina.

Images of Carina and Homunculus are linked below.
