The author and his friend stopped by a highway because they noticed two dark indian ponies. They stepped over the fence into the ponies' homes. The ponies were happy to see them. THe author wanted to hold one pony in his hands because she had nuzzled against his left hand . He reached out to touch her left ear and found it to be as smooth as a girl's wrist. That was when he realized if he were to abandon the human burdens and " step out of his body" and join nature, he would finally be free and " his body would break into blossoms."
