What is tempest about?

The tempest is about a group of people who get shipwrecked on a island (Miranda and prospero) and then they try and take over the island and enslave a native monster/man called Caliban and also imprison a island spirit called Ariel, after a few weeks Miranda stumbles across another person called Ferdinand and they both fall in love,

I'm not sure what happens in between but at the end prospero sets Ariel free and Ferdinand and Miranda gets married, and everyone is happy :) Xx

The Tempest is about a duke who gave his power to his brother for a while but then the duke wanted to have his power back and so his brother dumped him and his 3 year old daughter in a boat to starve but one of his close friends had secretly put food and water in the boat so he could live. By the time the food ran out he had reached an island. He became a powerful wizard from the books he read. He freed a spirit from being imprisoned in a tree trunk by an evil witch. Then he draws his brother's ship to his island and makes his son believe that his dad is dead and vise versa. Then He meets his daughter and falls in live and the father likes him but puts him through test to see if he is true. He is. (I haven't read the whole thing but that is what I have read so far.)
Prospero is a man who studied magic and was in charge of Naples. because he was usy studying magic his brother took over for a bit but then his brother started planing stuff with the king of Naples( Alonso) and Prospero and Miranda, his daughter, where left in a boat and sailed away (but before that an old man (Gonzalo) gave them food and gave Prospero his magic books.

then, like 15 years later, prospero lives with miranda on an island with Ariel, his fairee slave and caliban, his slave who tried to rape miranda. prospero creates a tempest and the people on the boat land on the island. A butler, and a joker plan with caliban to kill prospero and take over the island but afterwards they ask for forgiveness.

alonso thinks his son Ferdinand is dead but he is really with miranda and prospero and nmiranda and ferdinand fall in love.

Alonso doesn't know that and wantsds to commit suicide and he and gonzalo remember prospero and feel guilty.

prosepro's brother and alonso's brother plan to kill alonso and gonzalo but don't.

in the end ferdinand and miranda marry and prospero forgives everyone and sets ariel free.

This was all caused by Propero's brother Antonio claiming that he is the rightful Duke of Milan. Antonio has the help of Alonso ( the King Of Naples ) and Gonzalo the Kings counsellor secretly puts plenty of food, water, clothes and most-prized books from Prospero's library in the boat which Prospero and 3 year old Miranda are put in to die. Ariel is an airy spirit, and Caliban is Syxorax's son and slave to Prospero. Soon in the story Ferdinand ( Alonso's son falls in love with Miranda )In the end Prospero forgives Alonso and Antonio and Prospero decides to leave magic behing and move on in life.
