The Youngest AuthorAs long as children are writing, younger and younger authors will be able to publish their works. So, in this ever-changing answer, there will appear many young authors.

If you have found a book written by a certain young person, that is not included within the answer, feel free to add a post to the discussion portion of this answer:

Youngest Author

Jason Gaes wrote a moderately successful non-fiction book on his personal experiences called "My Book for Kids With Cansur" (sic) when he was eight. Diagnosed with Burkitt's lymphoma at six, and given a 1 in 5 chance of survival, Jason felt there should be a book about childhood cancer, telling young people they didn't have to die. An independent film called "You Don't Have to Die" and a play were based on the book. In 1988, President Reagan awarded Jason the American Cancer Society's "Courage Award."

A Younger AuthorIn this day of self-publishing, you can release a book by your toddler if you are so inclined. While Jason Gaes' accomplishments are impressive, there are many books by younger authors.

A particularly impressive one is by six-year-old Christopher Beale, who wrote a full-length five chapter novel, This and Last Season's Excursions.

The Youngest NovelistAlthough Nancy Li Fan's novel Swordbird was published by HarperCollins in 2007 when she was 13 years old, Swordbirdcontains in her book only about 150 pages or so, excluding her blank pages with a simple line and pictures overtaking a whole page with a couple of sentences.

Amelia Atwater-Rhodes wrote the manuscript for "In the Forests of the Night" at age 13, and it was picked up by Delacorte Press in 1999 when she was age 14. It is now published by Random House. She has since that time had nine more novels published.

Additional Input:

The youngest author alive is no longer that Swordbird author. It is Grace Templeton, 11-year-old resident of NH, who wrote and published Katherine's Quest.

I thought it's Jaclyn Ashley Chan, who publish a book " A Child's Fantasy" in age 4 though Xlibris. You can also check YouTube, enter "Jaclyn Chan" see her videos. Thanks!

Meleik Delaney is the youngest published author in the world. He wrote his first book at the age of 3. His first book The Fighters of Justice Saves their Mother and Learns to Never Give Up was published at the age of 4.
