The sound barrier to my knowledge, would be the buildup of energy as a plane or vehicle approaches the Speed of sound. It is also visible when something breaks the sound barrier. Check it out on YouTube. It looks like a cloud. So in a way, anyway, it is a barrier, because it is harder to push through than if you were going 200mph.

When sound waves hit a barrier nothing happens?

When sound waves hit a barrier, they can be absorbed, reflected, or transmitted. The barrier will block some of the sound energy, causing it to decrease in intensity as it interacts with the barrier. Sound waves can also diffract around the edges of the barrier, affecting how the sound is heard on the other side.

What can happen if a sound wave hits a barrier?

When a sound wave hits a barrier, several things can happen: it can be absorbed by the barrier, reflected back, transmitted through the barrier (if it's not solid), or diffracted around the barrier. The actual outcome depends on the properties of both the barrier and the sound wave.

Why does a space shuttle only brake the sound barrier on its return journey?

During re-entry, the space shuttle experiences increased atmospheric drag which slows it down, causing it to decelerate from supersonic speeds. This deceleration is what causes the shuttle to break the sound barrier on its return journey.

Do helicopter blades break the sound barrier?

No, helicopter blades do not break the sound barrier. The tips of the blades can approach the speed of sound, but the entire blade does not exceed the speed of sound.

When a sound wave bends around a barrier so you can still hear the sound even though you cant see the source the wave has undergone what?

When a sound wave bends around a barrier so you can still hear the sound even though you can't see the source, it has undergone diffraction. This phenomenon occurs when the wave encounters an obstacle or aperture that causes it to change direction and spread out.

What would happen if the diaphragm of a speaker exceeded the sound barrier?

Exceeding the sound barrier refers to speed of travel, not loudness of sound. A speaker cannot "exceed the sound barrier".

Can you break the sound barrier on fs2004?

Yes, depending on which aircraft you have but there is no indication that you have broken the sound barrier unfortunately.

How is sound barrier formed?

The Sound Barrier is a pressure wave. When an object accelerates it must push increasing ammounts of air out of the way. This causes pressure to build up. Normally this pressure is relieved through sound when the air molecules transfer their momentum to other molecules creating preaure waves. These pressure waves are what create sound. However these waves can only move so fast. The speed limit is known as the speed of sound or the "sound barrier." When an object's velocity is just bellow the sound barrier the object is moving at the same speed that the air is trying to move out of its way. This causes a build up of air into a pressure wave. This pressure creates a "Wall of Air" in front of the object and this wall takes a great deal of energy to push through. In short the Sound Barrier is formed because air molecules become squeezed together by sound waves until there is little room left for compression.
