The Kelvin scale (not "degrees Kelvin," but "Kelvins") is useful because

1. zero on the Kelvin scale is absolute zero, the absolute lowest temperature

2. separations between Kelvins are the same as separations between degrees Celsius. For instance, 0 is freezing and 100 is boiling on the Celsius scale, and 273.15 is freezing and 373.15 is boiling on the Kelvin scale.
