Is the poem 'why should we idly waste our prime' in allan Cunningham's edition of burns?
This poem is in the 1834 edition of Allan Cunningham. It is difficult to find as it is not given in the index. Even Scott Douglas almost overlooked it when compiling his six volume edition of Burns. Chambers gave it, as a poem discovered by Mr Cunningham, in his 1838 edition.*
It was later discovered that Burns was not the author of these revolutionary verses, indeed Cunningham and Chambers both discarded it from their subsequent editions.
