Yes, but this would amount to a spiritual undesirable discharge. There have been many such cases and the religious houses are in shambles, personnel wise. There have been, in saner times, MEDICAL discharges from religious life, such as if the sister or postulant(roughy apprentice nun) contracted TB, syphilis , or other contagious ailment all the more sensitive if she was in the health care apostolate. the ex-nun, if she quit primarily to get married, would have a devil of a time getting a priest to perform such a marriage service as she would be a spiritual outlaw. employment, too would pose problems, unless the ex-nun was certified as a teacher or a nurse, ,many of course are. not a good idea, sister/
This answer is completely wrong. Nuns can resign from religious life, and no respectable priest would deny marriage to a woman who had done so. Resignation is not comparable to dishonorable discharge in any way. Many former nuns retain quite good relationships with their former colleagues. Nuns have many employment opportunities, and women who resign have every opportunity for fulfilling subsequent careers. Whoever answered this question doesn't know what they're talking about.
A nun can stop being a nun whenever she wants to do so.
Probably not. As a nun they couldn't have a sexual relationship with a husband because when they take vows they are to remain celibate. Anyone I have known who was a nun or priest and wanted to get married had to leave .
quit being a wh@re....
Roman Catholic nuns are "married" to Jesus. They may not be married to a living person.
A nun is married to God. She does not have to be a virgin but most are. Nuns and priest can join the order if there spouse dies.
Katharine von Bora, the nun
Nope, she was a Nun.
if he dose he would all ready be a Pokemon master
Is it a huge sin to stop being a nun? Of the Roman Catholic Church? No. It is not a sin at all.
No, a Catholic nun can not marry while she is a member of her order as she is considered to be married to God.
No, Aga remained in the home caring for her mother. She neither married nor became a nun.
It is because they are married to God and so, seeing as they cannot have physical sex with God, do not have sex at all. However, the blanket statement of all nuns being virgins is not necessarily true. Once a woman becomes a nun, she is to remain chaste. This does not preclude a woman from being married, raising a family and becoming a nun when her husband dies. Sister Elizabeth Ann Seton (now Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton) is a good example.
