According to what I remember from The Bible (some gospels), I believe the stone took 10 strong men to move. Contrary to what you may have read about the height of people in the ancient world, it really all depended on social class. Obviously poor people only grew as tall as 5'1 for men, even shorter for women, however middle class people, or people from the countryside who were all well fed, reached their full height. In other words no, sorry, CNN was wrong; Jesus was NOT 5'1. Most ancient Hebrews and even the majority of modern Jews actually, regardless of heritage, tend to be only medium height. Not short, not tall; right in the middle, like pretty much everyone else in the mediterranean.

*There is actually no place in the Gospels where it references the stone taking ten strong men to move. Mark, Luke, and John refer to a "stone," while Matthew refers to a "large stone." But clearly it had to be heavy and huge if it were covering the entrance to a tomb.

According to one website, "It was customary to roll big stones against tombs; the stones were generally too big to be moved by just a few men, so levers were used to move them. Some have estimated that the stone that sealed Jesus' tomb weighed 1-1/2 to 2 two tons (1,361-1,814 Kilograms), which is the approximate weight of a midsize car."

The point is that it would have been extremely difficult for anyone to steal the body of Jesus, because of the Roman guards and because of the size of the stone. This gives credence to the Biblical testimony that the stone was rolled away by an angel, and that Jesus actually was raised from the dead.

The Bible does not say.

The tomb used for Jesus' burial was new, belonging to Joseph of Arimathea; it was not a cave but had been quarried in a rock-mass situated in a garden not far from the place of Jesus' impalement. The tomb had an entrance requiring a big stone to close it, and this stone apparently was of the circular type sometimes used. (Mt 27:57-60; Mr 16:3, 4; Joh 19:41, 42)
