There are not three practices required of all Catholics there are six and the precepts of the Church are set in the context of a moral life bound to and nourished by liturgical life. The obligatory character of these positive laws decreed by the pastoral authorities is meant to guarantee to the faithful the very necessary minimum in the spirit of prayer and moral effort, in the growth in love of God and neighbor:
To attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation.
To observe days of fast and abstinence.
To go to Confession once a year.
To receive Communion at least once a year during the Easter season.
To contribute to the support of the Church.
To obey the laws of Matrimony.

Diane Moczar has written: 'What Every Catholic Wants to Know'
Every Catholic should know that hell is a place of eternal separation from God, reserved for those who die in a state of mortal sin without repentance. It is a place of suffering and punishment, where souls are deprived of the presence of God for eternity. It is important for Catholics to understand the seriousness of sin and the need for repentance to avoid the possibility of going to hell.
