Jesus was beaten and tortured before he was hung on the cross. next to him was a murderer and a thief i believe. the murder questioned him and said if you are the Messiah save yourself and us. the thief then said we are being punished for our crimes this man is innocent and Jesus saved the thief right there on the cross and promised him a place in Heaven. then three days later Jesus rose again and promised that he would come back.... hope that helps
