1 Corinthians 10:13 "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way of escape that ye may be able to bear it."
Actually that verse isn't about God not giving us more then we can bear..its about temptations. Being tempted is one of the trials every Christian goes through..being tempted to sin. God will provide a way out of that temptation so we don't give in and sin.
Jesus went through the greatest temptation of all when He was tempted in the desert and its by His example we must live when dealing with temptations. He combated The Temptations with scriptures. When we read the book of Job, I think that gives us a clue as to how bad things can get...yet Job endured and never lost his faith. Job was only tempted once in all the terrible things that happened to him...and that was to renounce his faith in God by his own wife! He didn't. Rarely does any Christian endure what Job did though. Jesus Himself says we will have trials and tribulations in this world but in Him we will have peace:
John 16:33 (New King James Version)
33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."
Being a Christian doesn't mean we will have it easy in this life. That is never ever promised to us. Our hope and our peace in this world must be found in Christ alone.
