This depends entirely on how the term Christian is defined and also what figures are used. Some would say the USA, others the People's Republic of China, which despite official persecution, has a thriving house church movement numbering over 60 million persons and growing rapidly.

Christianity is the official religion in the most countries of the world, it is the majority religion of the world and is in the majority in a huge number of countries worldwide. 1. In the Western World (US, Canada, Europe, Australia and so on) Christianity is by far the majority religion. There are some representatives of other religions (eg Islam, Hinduism) usually brought in by Immigration, but Christianity is the predominant religion by far. 2. In Central and South America Christianity is present almost to the exclusion of other religions - especially the Christian denomination Roman Catholicism which is spread over all of the continent. 3. Whilst some African nations (such as those in the north of Africa, plus a few others)are islamic) in most African nations, Christianity is the predominant religion and many denominations are represented including Roman Catholicism, Anglicans, Methodists, Baptists and Pentecostalism. 4. In Asia there tends to be a mixture of religion of predominantly Christianity (the Orthodox Church) in Russia and some of its former states (such as Armenia) with some other countries having a mixture (eg India which has Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism and Islam) and others being predominantly other religions (eg Pakistan - Islam, Tibet - Buddhism, Japan, Shintoism and so on). However, whilst the Christian Church is not yet in the majority, in China and South Korea Christian Church growth has been astronomical. In China, for example, it was estimated that at the end of the 'Cultural Revolution' of the 1960s, there were fewer than 5000 Christians estimated in the country - all of which compulsorily met in secret for fear of persecution. By the end of the twentieth century it was estimated that Christianity had grown astronomically to over 50 million people claiming to be Christian as religions laws were relaxed. If growth continues in this exponential way both in China and South Korea, Christianity will be in the majority there too within the next decade.
