In the original gospel account of the Resurrection, that of Mark's Gospel, no one appears to have seen the risen Jesus, because the gospel originally ended at verse 16:8 when the young man tol the women that Jesus was risen and they fled in terror, telling no one. In the 'Long Ending' (verses 16:9-20) subsequently added to Mark's Gospel, Jesus appeared later to Mary Magdalene and then to "two of them as they walked" and finally to the disciples in the upper room, where he made some final, parting remarks. In the Long Ending, the two walking could be either the two women of Matthew's Gospel or the two men of Luke's Gospel. Unless Mary, mother of Christ, was one of the two, she never saw the risen Jesus.

In Matthew's Gospel, Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene and the other Mary as they returned from the tomb. The gospel does not say who the 'other Mary' was, but it could have been Our Lady.

In Luke's Gospel, appeared only to the two men on the road to Emmaeus and then the disciples. Since he was taken bodily up into heaven on the very evening of his resurrection, Mary would not have seen Jesus.

In John's Gospel, Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene and the disciples only.

In Acts of the Apostles, by the same author as Luke's Gospel but written somewhat later, Jesus remained on earth of forty days after his resurrection and was seen by many. It is most probable that Mary would have seen him.

Why did Jesus reveal himself to the two Marys before his disciples?

A:It is in Matthew's Gospel that Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were the first to see the risen Jesus, as they returned from the grave, having been told by an angel that he was not there. But each of the other gospels tells us a different account of the risen Jesus' first appearance. Mark's Gospel originally ended at verse 16:8, when he told the women that Jesus was risen and they fled in terror, telling no one. In this original version, the risen Jesus appeared to no one at all. The 'Long Ending' (verses 16:9-20) was added much later but says that early the same day, Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene only.Luke's Gospel says that Jesus first appeared to two men as they walked on the road to Emmaus. They were Cleopas and possibly Peter. In John's Gospel, Jesus also first appeared to Mary Magdalene, but this time in the garden at the tomb, where she thought he was the gardener.

Who told the disciples that Jesus was not in the tomb?

Mary Magdalene, along with other women who included Joanna, Salome, and Mary, the mother of Jesus.

Did Judas see the resurrected Jesus?

A:In Paul's First Epistle to the Corinthians, written long before the first of the gospels, the risen Jesus appeared to the twelve (1 Cor 15:3-8) which can only mean that for Paul, Jesus was not betrayed by Judas Iscariot. The gospel story required a traitor, and that traitor was Judas Iscariot. In the gospels, when the risen Jesus appeared to the disciples, he appeared to the eleven. It would be inconceivable that the other disciples would have kept Judas in their midst to be seen by the risen Jesus. Now, Judas did not see Jesus.
