How often should i feed my horned lizard?

Horned Lizards in the wild typically eat in the morning, after basking time, and again in the evening as the day cools. They have no concrete eating schedule, other than during hot months they will spend the hottest part of the day in seclusion under cover, and in more mild months they may forage intermittently through out the day, depending on conditions. Horned Lizards are opportunistic wait and ambush predators, meaning they typically set up somewhere, like near an ant foraging trail, and wait for the food to come to them.

Well, they may live for around about a week or so. But feeding them everyday will be great. They eat approximate 100 Harvester ants a day. But DO NOT FEED THEM SOMETHING TOO BIG!!! If they eat anything too large there digestive system can't take it, and they might die. Though, try to make sure there main food is Harvester ants. Or meal worms (they may not eat them) but maybe more for treats. Good Luck!!!

Horned Toads should be allowed to eat daily a diet of harvester ants and other insects ~ look to the related link below for additional information . The reptile would be best on it's own because they do not do well in captivity and die premature deaths . In Texas it is illegal to keep them in captivity .
