Box turtles don't bite. Box turtles don't have teeth to bite with!! I have a Box turtle and his name is Tuck and I have stuck my finger in front of his face and he does nothing. Box turtles crawl fast though.

Box turtles will only bite it they think you are food. I've been bitten because my box turtle thought my finger was a worm (they love earthworms). They also bite each other. The males will readily bite a female's feet when trying to mate. One of my females had a horrible bite on her rear foot that never healed properly but she lived a normal life. Heck, she might still be alive. All my box turtles should still be alive wherever they are.

Yes they can bite, they are very hard beaks (yes they are considered to have a beak) and you can easily lose a finger, however I do not suggest that you approach them and/or pet them because these are highly endangered animals and it is illegal to touch them. since they are wild animals it is important for them to fear people so that they do not get used us and they get killed by poachers. small turtles might try to bite, but they will not hurt very much if they do because their mouths are so small.

I had a turtle and it was not hand tame and it never bit or pinched me. So i don't think turtles bite or pinch unless its a snapping turtle.
