There are very few figures about the snail consumption in France; I found the figure of 30,000 [metric tons] circa 1990. That would mean for each French half a kilogram a year. If you estimate the weigh of a snail to 5 grams, that would mean a hundred snails per person and per year (seems unrealistic to me).

Hopefully, France being the most visited country in the world, tourists account for a large share of the national consumption.
