Unfortunately some people can be cruel. The best thing you can do is to ignore them and don't let them see that it may bother you. People do such things to get a reaction and if you don't give them one and ignore them (laugh it off, then they will get bored as they see that its not bothering you) eventually they will leave you alone.
I would ignore the people too. I use to have this problem and most of the time, when they called me gay my friends would step up for me. Then they'd stop for a while and continue, but here is what you should do. Ignore them, if you fight them or call them names, they are gonna try to lie to teachers and say that YOU called them a name. Every time a person makes fun of you, they are trying to get you mad, embarrassed, or they are trying to hide who they really are. I ignored those ignorant people a lot and they stopped. If you still feel bad, then think of who YOU really are, or listen to the song, "I don't think about it" by Emily Osment. This song helps me think that, "why would i listen to that ignorant person and how dare they tell u who u are". Don't let them get to you. Also hope things get better for you. :)
