55 plus 9 is 64, although at the beginning of the article it says 59 Japanese died at pearl harbour. The figures don’t match the story

Total: 2,403

Close to 2/3 of those who died occurred in the first 15 minutes of the battle when the Oklahoma, Utah and the Arizona were bombed.

In addition, 55 Japanese died, in addition to an unknown number of Japanese wounded. The US had 1,178 personnel wounded.

Over 2,300. Nearly half of this number were crewmen aboard the battleship USS Arizona.

The following is a list of how many people were killed on Dec. 7, 1941 as a result of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

  • US Navy: 2,008 KIA
  • USMC: 109 KIA
  • US Army: 218 KIA
  • Civilians: 68

Total: 2,403

2,042 American men were killed and 65 Japanese men were killed.

The Japanese lost 29 aircraft, out of about 350 in the two attack waves. The aircraft had either one, two or three men aboard. There were five two-man submarines from which there was one Survivor, taken prisoner. I'd say somewhere around 50-55.

There were several Japanese sailors swept overboard and lost during the voyage, beginning with one lost as the Task Force sortied from Hittokapu Bay in northern Japan. Perhaps another half dozen ordinary sailors lost in this way.
