According to the National Center for Education Statistics' "Schools and Staffing Survey 1999-2000," 99.3 percent of students who attended private schools graduated, compared to 88 percent of public high school students.

Some 93 percent of private school students went on to a four-year college, compared to 35 percent of all public high school students in 1999-2000.

First it depends on your definition of “Kids.” In general, college populations are broken down into a number of categories to include, the traditional students (ages 18 – 25), the non-traditional students (ages 25 +), and at times the senior citizen students (ages 65+). In addition, many students my not finish their degree within a general or prescribed time-frame. In other words, there are some who complete their Associates degree within a two year period, and some who finish their Bachelor’s degree in four years. Others may take longer. Next, there are individuals who attend college on a full-time basis (12+ college credits per semester), while others attend on a part-time bases (less than 12 college credits per semester). In addition, there are students who drop out on a permanent bases, while others can be classified as stop-out students. The stop-out students may drop out of college for a time, however they return at a later date to complete their degree. Thus, the question is not as clear cut as one might imagine.
