Continents

Some of the countries that claimed land on the North American continent after the Louisiana Purchase include the United States, Russia, Mexico, Britain, and Spain. These countries acquired or already had territory in North America through exploration, colonization, treaties, or conquest.

The total land mass of America is approximately 42.5 million square kilometers. This includes North America, Central America, and South America.

North America is closer to Africa than South America. The distance between the two continents is shorter at the narrowest point of the Atlantic Ocean between Morocco in Africa and Florida in North America.

Mesoamerica is a historical and cultural region in the Americas, specifically in the southern part of North America and most of Central America. It includes countries such as Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica.

Oceania is a political continent. Australia, which is a part of Oceania, is the geographical continent of the region.

Antarctica is the only continent to not contain any countries due to its uninhabitance of humans. It is the southernmost continent. It is also the only continent to be the greenest and least affected by human interference, again, due to its uninhabitance. Antarctica is also one of the coldest places on the planet.

Russia is located in both Europe and Asia. The majority of its land area lies in Asia, while a smaller portion lies in Eastern Europe.

An island is a distinct landmass that is smaller than a continent. Islands are surrounded by water and are typically less extensive in size compared to continents. Examples of islands include Hawaii, Madagascar, and Iceland.

Australia is a country as well as a continent.

The country of Oman is located on the continent of Asia, specifically in the eastern part of the Arabian Peninsula. It shares borders with the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen.

Europe and Asia share six countries, so the total between the two is really 93, not 99. Thus putting the number to 196.

North America (mainly the US and Canada) in addition to Europe are the richest continents. This is because these are the most developed, least corruptible, most powerful, etc. nations. They have the largest Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the world.

North America is entirely in the Northern and Western Hemisphere. Europe is entirely in the Northern Hemisphere while South America is entirely in the Western Hemisphere. Asia is almost entirely in the Northern Hemisphere as well.

Sweden is located in Europe, specifically in the northern part of the continent.

The Arctic Ocean is north of all seven continents. It surrounds the North Pole and is the smallest and shallowest of Earth's five major oceans.

Asia occupies about 30% of the Earth's land area.

One piece of evidence supporting the theory of continental drift is the fit of continents, such as the matching coastlines of South America and Africa. Additionally, the alignment of mountain ranges and geological structures across continents supports the idea of past continental unity.

The seven continents of the world are Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, and South America. Some geographers also consider Oceania and the subcontinent of Zealandia as additional continents.

Manila is the capital of the Philippines. It is located in Asia.

Cameroon is in Africa.
