The Sengoku Jidai, or "Warring States Period" of Japan, lasted
roughly from 1467-1615. The Onin War, which began in 1467, is
generally to be considered the start of the Sengoku Period, and the
Battle of Osaka in 1614 & 1615, when Tokugawa Ieyasu
effectively unified Japan under his rule, is considered to be the
end of the period.
