You should never do surgery during you pregnancy unless it is LIFE-threatening, so talk to your doctor about it and he will keep a close eye on your symptoms.

From my own net searches, I believe about one in 2,000 pregnant women get appendicitis. I may be one of them (waiting on tests).

Blood tests that show an increased white blood cell count may indicate the condition. Pain may present higher on the right side of the abdomen than normal, depending on how pregnant you are, as the uterus pushes internal organs up as it grows bigger.

Laparoscopy is used to detect appendicitis in pregnant women as soon as possible. Immediate surgery is necessary if tests are positive to prevent rupture of appendix and peritonitis which will endanger both mother and baby.

Therefore, don't ignore abdominal pain in pregnancy. Your baby will remain healthier for it and you will have peace of mind.

I am 6 months pregnant and my appendix burst. I have just got out of the hospital. It has been very painful and scary but I seem to be on the mend. The baby seems completely fine.

If this helps your own diagnosis, my pain was 2 inches to the right of my belly button, and then radiated up and down from there. So it's a lot higher than when you are not pregnant.

I am 7 months pregnant and just had my appendix removed. It was a fairly easy procedure, it is the recovery that is difficult.I had laparoscopic surgery done. I am glad I had the procedure done, my mind is at at ease now that I know the baby and I are out of the danger zone. Now I have labor and delivery to look forward to.

My Mom had her appendix out (it had burst) when she was 16 weeks pregnant with me.

I am now 51 with an IQ 137.

Try not to worry.

My aunt had appendicitis when she was pregnant. It had burst and it was awhile before she knew it so they had to air lift her to the hospitall because the poison it releases after if ruptures could have killed her and the baby but they were saved so if you think it has you really need to get to the doctors soon because it could put you and the baby in danger.

I was 5 months pregnant when my appendix burst. It was a pain like nothing I had ever felt, I could not move, lay on my sides, or walk. I was only comfortable laying in a lounge position. I went to the emergency room and was admitted for an appendicitis. I was there for 4 days, they took 2 ultrasounds a day, and when my gyno looked at me he determined it was a bladder infection and they sent me home. A little over a week later I woke one morning with fever shivers and was gushing out a very rancid smelling, dark brown, blood-like consistency. I went back to the hospital; it was my appendix, and the poisons that had ruptured a week before had collected, ruptured again and was coming out of me. I ended up going into labor that evening, I lost my baby, and because of the poisons/sepsis from the appendix, my lungs, liver, and kidneys started to shut down. I got ARDS: Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome from the sepsis and was in ICU on a respirator for 18 days. The mortality rate is high with ARDS, I'm very lucky to be here. PLEASE - if you are experiencing any kind of pain in the abdomen, go see a doctor. Please do not let what happened to me happen to you. Do not leave the doctors/hospital until they have completely ruled out an appendicitis.

Is appendicitis keyhole surgery?

Yes. It can be. It should be. It is key hole surgery. ( I had opportunity to assist the planned operation to my teacher Dr. N. K. Deshmukh in 1990 in my O.T. He gave very small cut to the abdomen, about one inch. Through that cut he inserted his finger in the abdomen. He pulled out the appendix. How he did it, is still out of imagination. Very easily the operated on the appendix. Pushed it inside the abdomen. Closed the abdomen by giving few stitches. There was only about 5 to 10 ml bleeding probably. Operation was done by the angle from the heaven, probably.)

What are signs of having appendicitis?

At first the signs can be an all over abdominal pain (most common), loss of appetite, and sometimes nausea and/or vomiting. But as it becomes more and more inflamed the pain becomes more localized to the bottom right of your abdomen, in front of your right hip bone, as this is where the appendix is located.

Is Appendix Pain A Big Deal?

One of the biggest problems faced by doctors today is convincing patients that their problems are serious enough to seek medical attention. What should a person do, for instance, when they are facing serious appendix pain? Is this a big deal or is it something that you can just let go? Appendix pain can be very serious. It can be a sign of appendicitis, a condition that might be deadly if you do not seek medical attention. It is important to be safe so that you are not sorry later on.

What causes appendix pain?

It can be caused by a number of things. First, you might have some sort of blockage that has caused an infection in that part of your body. Bacteria can begin to accumulate. This can be very painful over time. It might also be caused by trauma to the abdomen. If you have been punched or hit in that area, then you might experience significant pain. Many people with bowel diseases also experience pain in the appendix.

How do I tell if it is appendix pain or just a stomach ache?

This is ultimately one of the major problems for people who experience this sort of pain. How do you know whether you are dealing with a basic stomach ache? After all, no one wants to go running to the hospital every single time they are feeling a little bit of pain. The answer is that you can never be too sure. When the pain is sharp and shooting, you can bet that something serious is wrong. You will also want to note the duration of the pain. Most stomach aches happen just after you eat. They do not last all that long, either. Serious appendix pain can last for hours. The longer the pain goes, the more likely it is that you need to seek some treatment.

Appendix pain is something to take very seriously. You cannot risk the health consequences associated with letting these things go unchecked. It is always better to be safe than to be sorry when these circumstances arise.

Does exercising or working out straight after meals cause appendicitis?

No, it does not. This is a myth, most likely spawned by some homeopathic quack or other who "observed" that sometimes attacks of acute appendicitis happened to appear after a meal and then exercise. It is also possible to, if the appendix is infected, to have a flare up in the middle of the night, but this does not mean that sleeping causes appendicitis.

Does right hip pain indicate appendicitis?

No, it cannot be appendicitis because the appendix is attached to the bottom of the large intestine. It is approximately 4 inches long and could extend to your left side but no where near your right hip. The appendix is also located in the abdominal cavity and the hip is not located there.

Had bust appendix no surgery was treated with anti biotics for peritonitis?

That sounds unusual. The doctor must have considered you extremely unfit for surgery. I suppose that a repair of a ruptured appendix could be accomplished through the inside of the colon (through basically a colonoscopy); however it would be unusual. Peritonitis is serious, though. It is basically the worst that can happen with a ruptured appendix, and it can be fatal.

Can eating small sized seeds get you an appendicitis. Also by eating too much sweets?

No, these things cannot cause appendicitis. It's caused by obstruction of the appendiceal lumen, and because of this bacteria multiplies.
