What is the Sikh view on Artificial insemination by donor?

God intended that pregnancy occur within the bond of marriage between a man and a woman -- who are married to each other. God commissioned the human race in Genesis by the proclamation that Adam and Eve were to multiply and replenish the earth. Furthermore, according to the Bible, pregnancy is to occur between the man and a woman who are married to each other.

If the married couple is having a problem getting pregnant and artificial insemination is recommended by a doctor, then it is acceptable under the condition that, only the sperm and egg of the married couple are involved.

As long as both the egg in the sperm are from the same married couple, then I can see no problem with this process. After all, both the egg in the sperm belonged to the married couple and there is no intrusion of seed from outside that marriage bond. If the married couple accepts the sperm from another man (a man outside of the marriage bond with that woman), then she is inviting the intrusion of another man's seed into herself. This is an adulterous occurrence.

Christian marriage is a covenant between the husband and wife with God and people as witnesses. This covenant is taken seriously by the Lord. It should also be taken seriously by the couple. God knows all situations and circumstances and is in complete control. If a Christian couple cannot get pregnant and if the only way the wife can get pregnant is through the donation of sperm from a man outside of the marriage bond, then it is best to avoid that pregnancy. Otherwise, the couple is inviting into the woman's body the seed of another man -- which is adultery. It is better that if the couple desires to have children, they should adopt. This prevention of pregnancy could be a means by which the Lord arranges for couples to adopt, thereby, taking care of other children.

Objections Some claim that using another man's sperm to impregnate a woman is not morally wrong because there is no physical act of adultery involved and there is no intent of it adultery. Also, if the husband agrees, then how could the impregnation be adulterous? We must be very careful to not let situational ethics govern biblical principles. God has ordained that husband and wife, a married couple, be the bearers of children within that covenantal bond of marriage. Whether or not the physical act of adultery has occurred or not does not excuse the fact that the sperm of another man has entered the body of a woman to whom he is not married.

How old do you got to be to do insemination?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

At least 18, unless you have really stupid, uncaring parents. Then you might have a shot at younger if you could find a stupid, unethical doctor.

The above, of course, refers to artificial insemination. If you go about it the old-fashioned way and choose the age of your partner carefully, there are no legal restrictions. However, the stupid part still applies if you are under 18.

Can a you use two donors for artificial insemination?

User Avatar

It most likely depends on your timing, sperm will live up to a week in the woman's reproductive vault waiting for ovulation. Once there, it takes "ownership" and will attempt to fight off a donation from another male - knowing this happens, both donations should be done at the same time or as close together as possible.

When two gay men use artificial insemination with a surrogate, they may both make a sperm donation - giving both of them an equal chance at being the biological father.

I have also heard of doctors telling a couple to have sex, following artificial insemination using donor sperm, if the male has a low sperm count - undoubtedly hoping the "father to be" will donate a few good swimmers to the mix giving him a chance at paternity.

Does artificial insemination mean that artificial introduction of sperm takes place there?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

In some situations, that is exactly what it means. The "artificial" in this case just means that it wasn't done using sex. If the semen cannot reach the egg cell, doctors can put it there, at least after verifying that there are sperm cells in the semen. If the man doesn't have semen with viable sperm cells, then trying to put his semen by the egg cell won't help.

In other cases, it refers to artificial fertilization. The egg and sperm cells may be taken from the body, isolated, allowed to fertilize, and introduced back into the woman's body. It is "artificial" since this requires a fertility specialist, and doesn't happen on its own. This can be helpful if a man has a very low sperm count. The sperm cells can be isolated from the semen. Then the egg can be fertilized in a lab and then implanted back in.

So the "artificial" here refers to outside intervention. After that intervention, the process is natural.

Pregnancy through a turkey baster?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I got pregnant using the turkey baster method. I used a 10ml syringe ( without the needle) cut off the nozzle or the protruding part. Without the nozzle you can insert it deeper. Once you have the fresh semen into the syringe, hold it upright and push the plunger to remove any air bubbles. Don't worry if you spill some there are millions of sperms even in a small sample of semen. Lie down on your back with your legs high and insert the syringe till you are comfortable and then let the semen in by pushing he plunger. Hold your position for about 20 min. I tried this method for 10 months before getting pregnant and some learnings are timing is important start a couple of days before your ovulation day and continue for 2-3 days after, to improve the chances of pregnancy. In my case i was low on the FSH hormone, and consulted a doc only after trying for about 9 months. I took some medication for the low hormone levels and tried Turkey Baster on the 10 month, and it worked. So if you are not seeing results it would be good idea to see a doc and get some tests done. See the related links section below, It contains links from websites that I found useful to learn about getting pregnant using Turkey Baster.
