NO! If you have shortness of breath, taking Benadryl (a drug with sedative and tranquilizer-like effects) could cause fatal respiratory depression. You should ask your doctor to be tested for Asthma, COPD, etc.. If you have one of these diseases, you should be put on a Controller medication (ie Advair) and a emergency medicine (ie Albuterol).
