How do you know if cookware is stainless or aluminum?
I was one of the people who had this question and since it wasn't answered yet, I dug for my own answers. This is what I've found.
Short answer: A Stainless Steel pot or pan is in many ways better than an aluminum pan, even though aluminum conducts heat better.
Expanded answer: Stainless Steel is one of the best "non-reactive" materials used in cookware. Aluminum is a reactive material which will change the way foods that are made in it look and taste. There are many arguments that aluminum cookware can cause health issues, but from what information I have found, aluminum cookware is safe for use as long as you avoid cooking acidic foods for long periods of time in them. It's also suggested that you don't store acidic food in aluminum pots and pans. Anodized Aluminum is safe to cook acidic foods in as long as there are not any pits and scratches on the surface.
Generally, a Stainless Steel pot will last much longer (sometimes generations) than an aluminum pot. No matter how many scratches and pits the Stainless Steel pot gets it'll always remain non-reactive, so you can cook any type of food in them. For these reasons, I say yes, a stainless steel pot is better than an aluminum one.
Is it bad to use aluminum cookware?
Both aluminum and nonstick cookwares are safe for cooking use. However, aluminum can withstand more heat that nonstick cookware can. The non-stick part of a cookware will melt off at a certain temperature.

Are Revereware pots and pans made of aluminum or stainless steel?
I have been looking for an additional pot becasue I rec'd new REvere cookware for Christmas. I was tired of cleaning copper bottoms. According to the info on Rever's website, (non-copper bottom) the Tr-ply collection pots/pans are constructed of durable shiny stainless steel. The bottoms on the pans feature an encapsulated aluminum disk between 2 layers of stainless for quick even heat distribution. (From other sources, I have read that stainless by itself does not have even hest distibution.)

Yes, copper is not toxic. If you are for some reason sensitive to copper due to an allergy or disease however, this would probably be a bad idea. How do you clean glass cookware?
Hardware shops sell a product for use on glass stove tops called "Hob Cleaner Paste".
Put less than a teaspoon sized blob of the paste onto the hob and use a dry paper kitchen towel to spread it out all over the ring area, rubbing just a little. The idea is to let that cleaner paste dry off. Then use the paper kitchen towel to rub the dried cleaner paste into the stains over and over and, hopefully, you may get most of them off.
However you may be unlucky to remove all the stains first time so use the hob cleaner paste several times over several weeks. Even then, some stains may remain forever if they were allowed to get "burnt" into the glass surface..
Some people recommend using a special type of metal handled scraper that is specially made for use on glass stove tops. It has a razor blade mounted on it. You can try using one but you'd have to use it very carefully and be sure not to "cut" or scratch the surface. There is no point in damaging the surface permanently by attacking it too violently with a sharp tool of any type.

Another option is: A cheap product that works REALLY well for glass stovetops is "WEIMAN" GLASS COOKTOP CLEANER, which can be purchased at WalMart for about $4.00. I swear by it. I heard silicone utensils aren't safe. Is it best to use melamine or silicone on nonstick cookware?
Any of the above. When did silicone become unsafe? Overheat melamine and you get toxins forming in the partially combusted or pyrolized material from which it's made. (Any melamine discolored from exposure to heat is best discarded.) Overheat silicone and you get silicone. Replace any utensil that has been heat damaged to remove any doubts. Any of the products will work well if the manufacturers' instructions are followed. Don't have them handy? Use common sense. Or WikiAnswers. Bon appétit.

The recent increase in reality television shows, featuring cooking has prompted a glut of home chefs in need of tool, tip, and technique suggestions. What is the best cookware is a question that you must look at with a relative eye. What would be classified as "best" of course depends on what you plan to cook in the cookware and your price point. The most important consideration you must make when choosing the proper cookware FOR YOU is of course the constructed material of the cookware. For example if you are purchasing cookware because you intend to do a lot of braising where you will need even distribution of heat, cooper cookware is the way to go. However, cooper cookware can be expensive, so if you are on a limited budget you may not want to invest in this type of cookware. Cooper is also a reactive metal. Copper does not hold up well under cleaning or lots of cooking. It scratches and loses its color and also tends to meld into whatever you're cooking in it. Aluminum is another reactive metal, however, a great choice if you want great even heat. It is a soft metal so it wont hold up. It is however inexpensive, therefore, if cost is a large issue for you, consider Aluminum. If you make this choice I suggest anodized, chemically treated, to reduce the reactivity. Cast Iron can be a consideration if you are going the lesser expensive route. It is a great for very high temperature cooking. It can go straight from the stovetop to the oven. Cast Iron is another reactive metal that will rust, pit, and stick to your food. Most of these things can be avoided if you "season" your cast iron before you use it to cook in. In my opinion, Stainless Steel is a great choice. It provides great conductivity of heat, it's priced reasonably, and it's durable. If you select a high quality Stainless Steel pan, like those sold by the pampered chef, you will notice the sides and bottoms are reinforced with aluminum. For a quality Stainless Steel pan you will not have to worry about scratching, wear and tear, or your food tasting like metal. The bottom line really is, if you want to create culinary delights you must make the investment in high quality cookware. The degree of your choice really depends on the type of cooking, and your wallet. Get yourself a good 12" covered stainless steel skillet; this should be suitable for most needs.
