What are the different pieces of a pie chart?
A slice of a chart can be "exploded" out of it. An exploded slice is separate from the main part of the chart. An exploded pie chart has all the slices separated.
How can changing the interval on a bar graph change the way it is interpreted?
Let's say you have 2 bars, one of which is 5 and one of which is 15 (units not important).
If you have the interval at 1 unit, then both bars would be relatively large. If you set the interval at 10 units, however, the bars suddenly seem much smaller. It's not because they ARE smaller, but because the interval makes them appear as such.
So if someone wanted to skew a statistic, such as "Number of deaths by cigarettes in 2009", they could set the interval at a high number to make it appear to be a smaller bar, which gives the impression that it's not that big of a deal. Conversely, if they wanted to skew a statistic the other way, such as "Units Produced in March", they could set the interval at a very low number which would make the bar appear very large, giving the effect of a large amount produced.
What does a pie chart show you in Excel?
It shows how each of the parts combine to form a complete data set and indicate the percent of each part. A pie chart can only have one series.
What is best situation to use line graph?
To show values as a trend and to be able see how something has played out over a period of time, a line graph is ideal.
What is the difference between a picture graph and a bar graph?
a picture graph uses pictures to show the point and bar graph use bar lines to show the point.
Describe what the graph would look like of travel by car from school to home?
The answer depends on whether it is a distance-time graph, speed-time graph or something else.
A pie chart is a good way to show?
Pie charts are good for showing how a whole is broken down into its parts.
What is used to compare two specific variables is it a line graph?
x (usually for time) y (usually for distance)
and sometimes z
The axis on which the categories are shown in a bar and line graph?
Horizontal line (left to right) is the x-axis and the vertical line (up and down) is the y-axis.

The histogram of a sample should have a distribution shape that is skewed. Is this true or false?
False.
It can be skewed to the left or right or be symmetrical.
Is there a difference between a bar graph and a double bar graph?
A double bar graph plots two sets of data on a single chart, whereas a bar graph plots just one.
This option is available when you choose to Graph selected data in your spreadsheet.
You can read Excel Help for this feature, or follow the guidelines in Google Docs to accomplish this task.
If the lottery is fair what shape of histogram will she get?
In a state lottery, a player can buy a ticket that displays exactly 6 two-digit numbers having values in the range from 01 to 60. In a twice-a-week drawing, 6 numbered ping-pong balls are drawn at random from a hopper, and a ticket whose numbers match all 6 balls wins the jackpot.
A high-school statistics student wishes to test whether the lottery drawings are fair. For every drawing during a year, she records the six winning numbers. At the end of the year (after 104 drawings) she plots all the winning numbers with a histogram using the classes 01-10, 11-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50, and 51-60.
If the lottery is fair, what shape of histogram will she get?
Uniform
---------------------------
Theoretically, each bar of the histogram should have the same length, if the ball-drawing process is truly random. In this case, 104 x 6 = 624 numbers are drawn over the course of the year. Since the numbers are classed into 6 groups (of 10 each), each group should have about 104 numbers in it.
In fact, from simulations of this lottery, the heights of the bars representing a year of drawings will typically range from about 93 to about 119. The "Law of Large Numbers" says that the more times this experiment is repeated, the closer the average height of each bar will approach the theoretical value of 104
