Graphs

Graphs often collect a set of data in a group of people. There are many kinds of graphs: pie charts (circle charts), bar graphs, line graphs, data tables, pictographs, flow charts, histograms, etc.

What is a quadrant on a graph?

On an XY graph, the X axis and Y axis create four separate areas. Each one is a quadrant.

Is a line graph different from a bar graph?

Yes, they are very different. A line graph links points with lines to show progress over time. A bar graph show values by having bars of different lengths.

Parts of a bar graph?

1. Title

2. Labels

3. scales

4. Bars

What does a pictograph represent?

A pictograph is a way of presenting data by using pictures or symbols. It is one of the earliest known writing systems and examples have been found in Egypt and Iraq.

How can a histogram be useful?

becuase its easier to describe the pattern of the data

What are the advantages using broken line graph?

There are some advantages: If the broken line graph is misleading in your business in a good way, people will really believe you and your business in whatever the graph says. For example, If there is a line graph that shows that today your customer satisfaction rate is 99.9% then your customers will really believe you which will make your business more popular. The only bad things are if your customers realize that the graph is misleading or "broken" then they will abandon your business and then maybe your employees will do the same thing because they lose your trust. But if you make the graph believable, you are super successful. But, of course if you don't want to risk it, I would suggest using a non broken graph just in case. Hope this answers your question!

When is a pie chart used?

A pie chart is not used for sophisticated mathematical analysis. It is used to show how a given quantity is divided up, in a way can be easily seen.

A pie chart is best used when representing how the measured statistic, or "piece," fits into the whole "pie" (100%).

For example: In a family of 6, there is a father, mother, 3 brothers and 1 sister. A pie chart comparing males to females in this family would show a 72% male piece and a 38% female piece.

Is a bar graph a pictograph?

no,a bar graph is not a pictograph, pictograph's represent data by pictures and bar graphs by bars...

How do you create a histogram?

Histograms are bar graphs that take many data points and group them into manageable portions. Gather the data, create a title that identifies the population or sample, name the vertical scale which will identify the frequency of the various classes, name a horizontal scale to identify the variables you are counting. Create the classes which are the groups of many single data points. Each class is represented by a bar in the graph. To make them totally correct, the bars must touch, there is a modal class, a mean and a median. The modal class is the class with the most frequency of data points. The mean is the average of all samples added then divided by the number of samples (You will also have a population mean, usually denoted by µ which is the average across the entire population, not just the sample.) The median is the exact middle of the sampled data. Create the bar graph by counting each data point in the individual classes, labeling the graph and drawing the bars to represent those classes.
