The phone is relatively similar to its predecessors, the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4S, but features new details like a remodeled home button, fingerprint recognition, better camera hardware and software, a 64-bit A7 processor, and the iOS 7 operating system. The phone had record breaking sales upon its release, breaking all of Apple's previous sales records and becoming the top selling phone for all major US carriers.
