James Earl Ray is the man that Shot and Killed Martin Luther King
Here is a little about James Earl Ray. He was born on March 10th, and was convicted of the murder of Martin Luther King Jr. on April 4th. He was caught by the police a little while later. He hired one lawyer, then he hired Percy Foreman. Percy Foreman had only lost a few of his cases, and pleaded with Ray to "not go to trail," because then he may be sent with the death sentence. Ray agreed, and said he was quilty. He was sent to prison. A little while later, the judge got a letter that Foreman was no longer the lawyer for Ray. Even though Foreman had probably saved his life from the death sentence. Ray died in jail in the 1990's.

Why did James earl ray shoot Martin Luther King jr even know he was white?

James Earl Ray shot Dr. King, even thought James was white, he didn't like the way things were going. He wanted everything to go back. He wanted whites to be good, and blacks to be bad. He shot Martin while he was walking on his balcony for a meeting. James fired the gun in Martin's head. Martin fell down on the balcony floor. While he did, James ran away. A little while later, Dr. King's wife, and some other people came to the meeting. They found Martin Luther King's body lying on the floor. They pointed over near a corner where I think they saw a gun lying on the ground. And so that's how Martin Luther King Jr died.
