It's true he had a camels skin, but there's a lot more to it! It was a very fine leather garment and most likely passed down from Elijah & Elisha, they too had the same leather tallit(prayer shawl) called a mantle in many Bibles. John's hair was very long, probably down to his waist, with a beard probably down to his stomach. He was very clean and combed his hair neatly. Not wild looking like most pictures & preachers portray him. How do we know this? The Bible! Because John was a Priest as was his father a Priest and his father was doing his service(course) in the Temple when he became dumb and couldn't speak as we see in Luke 1:5 (his course meant he was burning incense).
