The only holiday they would be connected with would be St. Patrick"s day March l7.

Leprechauns are extremely difficult to track - but some success maybe encountered by closely observing the dew on the grass. Leprechauns can travel without disturbing the dew but it will take on a sullen shimmer in the moon-light as a result of ones passage. A really careful tracker can follow it - until the sun comes up and burns it all away of course.

You will have far more success in attracting Leprechauns to merry or even slightly robust events. Forest dances, games of pillogaging (bowling), and tussels have been known to attract the little folk.

They are real. The only reason they might not be to you is if you don't believe in them.

Mr. Mxyptlyk was a bad-guy mischievious Leprechauh in the Superman saga. He played all sorts of cruel and dangerous pranks-reversing the polarity of a submarine"s ballast pumps, for example, almost causing the loss of the sub which went into a crash dive. q horrible if sometimes funny, role man of shenanigans.

The Irish do not believe in leprechauns. As a born and bred, true Dublin man, I can honestly say I've never met a person that 'believed' in them. In fact, I've never had a conversation about them. The myth probably goes back to the old stories of gold under the rainbow, and that would be where you'd see a leprechaun. And this might symbolize our inherent positivity, despite our small physiques and red-hair; and those of us who are from the country would have a fiddley-dee accent, whereas the majority of Dubliners have a Colin Farrellesque accent.

Everyone's heard of the legendary pot of gold, and the only way to track one is to follow the sound of a Leprechaun hammering the shoes. They say if you catch one, he'll promise to take you to his pot of gold if you can just keep him in your sights. But these tricky little fellows know just how to get you to look away. Once you do, they've disappeared and your chance of riches is gone!
