Why does the Milky Way appear milky?
It appears milky because it's made from so many stars that from a distance, it looks milky.
If you look at the Milky Way from somewhere where the sky is really dark, it looks like someone spilled glowing milk across the sky, and formed a little stream; that's why it is called the "milky way". There isn't any literal "milk" there.

There are about 200 billion of these in the milky way?
There are thought to be between 200 billion and 400 billion stars in our galaxy. So for every star, there could be several planets in orbit. This is just our galaxy though, there are then thought to be 100 billion galaxies or more, so total number of stars in the universe is massive.
Is there life outside milky way?
If there is, we will not know unless they come to us, we don't even know if there is any other forms of life apart from that on Earth in the Milkyway yet, so lets not run before we can walk. addition: Life as in what? Any kind of living thing? An algae? A fungus? A human or other higher thinking being? Unfortunately, probably a question that no one will ever know. The milky way is HUGE. Our closest star (besides our sun) is Proxima Centauri. If you traveled the speed of light (which is impossible), you would have to travel 4.2 years. The closest galaxy to our Milky Way is the Canis Major Dwarf galaxy (which is IN our galaxy). It would take you 42,000 years at the speed of light to get there. There are millions and millions and millions of stars in our OWN galaxy. To think that there isn't life on other planets orbiting one of those billions and billions of stars that AREN'T in our galaxy is slim. Chances are that there is life outside our milky way.
What would happen to the milky way galaxy if there was sun?
It would turn rancide amd be very hard to consume with cookies
How is the milky way and constellation centaurus different?
In essentially every possible way.
Constellations are specifically defined areas of sky; Centaurus is one such, as seen from the planet Earth. The Milky Way is a galaxy. The two are, at best, extremely loosely related.
What is the interior of the Milky Way like?
The center of the Milky Way, like the centers of most large galaxies, is probably occupied by a super-massive black hole.
What are the two population stars in the milky way?
Population I stars are young and luminous like the Sun. Population II stars consist of globular clusters that are generally much older.
What number of open clusters have been discovered in the Milky Way?
More than 1,100 open clusters have been discovered within the Milky Way Galaxy and many more are thought to exist.
When will the Milky Way galaxy die?
in about 5 billion years when the adromeda galaxy collides with the milky way
btw the adromeda is bigger than the milky way, about 1/2 larger
CRAP SAUCE!!!!!!!
No, the solar system is not in the Milky Way. The Milky Way is a galaxy, and is home to an estimated 200 to 400 billion stars, and just one of them (our sun) is the center of our solar system.
An unimpressive medium sized star in a remote portion of the milky way?
That might refer to our Sun. Or to any of several billions of other stars.

Why is the sun important to the Milky Way?
Our sun, which all of the planetary bodies in our solar system revolve around, is a star, just like the millions of little dots you can see when you look out into space. The space which you look out into is the Milky Way, our galaxy. The sun is a star in the Milky Way galaxy.
Which is the nearest planet to the milky way?
All of the 1000 or so planets discovered so far, or most of them, are inside the Milky Way.
Is galaxy the same as Milky Way galaxy?
No. There are many galxies, but only one of them is the Milky Way Galaxy.
Does the Milky Way galaxy have an atmosphere?
An atmosphere occurs when gases are held in a gravitational field by a body. The Milky Way is a galaxy not a planet or star and does not have an atmosphere of its own.
