Pita Bread

Pita bread is usually slightly leavened and is flat, varying in size. It is usually round or oval. One of the most ancient forms of bread, Pita bread is used for dipping in sauces or dips, or for sandwiches. When baking, the dough puffs up and remains separated when removed from the oven, forming "pockets" which can be stuffed with a variety of fillings or foods.
