Not the best allusion, but a bit better than chewing gum, because i doubt if Poseidon would have enjoyed chewing - He was too intent on venting his considerable anger. The best one I can think of is Britain's Trident submarine: A fearsome underwater monster with the capability of delivering nuclear warheads over great distances.
