they are ray-ban wayfarrars.. they embodiment of cool.. the same glasses worn by tom cruise in risky business and jfk.. and me, and anyone else who wants to look cool.*******

I think the Ray-Ban Wayfarers is correct.

You can buy a pair on Ebay. There not Roy's but a company makes the same kind that he had. They also make Elvis sunglasses. Pretty neat stuff...

Sorry to spoil the party, but Roy Orbison did not wear Ray Ban glasses of any type. I called Ray Ban to inquire and they informed me that he was not a Ray Ban customer at any time in his life. I also asked the folks who run the official Roy Orbison fan website and they told me that Roy had his glasses frames custom made. ( but his glasses where basicaly the exact same as wayfarers so it realy makes no difference)

Another spoiler...They are nothing like Ray Ban Wayfarers!

Roy, Buddy, and Waylon, all had different versions of the same style of frame. The closest thing you can find today are Victory Optical "Suntimers"!

They just re-issued 'em.

How long was Roy Orbison successful?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

He was popular and somewhat successful for roughly 30 years while he was alive, and remains popular and successful today to a certain degree. There were definitely "down" or "slow" periods in his career, but he had his first big hit in 1957, and was enjoying renewed popularity when he passed away in 1988. Besides being a solo artist and songwriter of such popular songs as Oh Pretty Woman (or just Pretty Woman), he was also a member of the "supergroup" the Traveling Willburys. His music is still recorded by other artists, and still played on radio today.
