Strudel

A strudel is a baked filo pastry which is often eaten as a dessert or treat, particularly in Europe. The common strudel fillings are apple, cherry, walnuts & raisins and even cheese. The oldest mention of strudel as far as we can tell was in a book found in Vienna around 1696, though the actual origin is disputed between Austria and Hungary. The name "strudel" is German for "whirlpool."
