The Avengers are a team of Marvel superheroes. They first appeared in 1963, and like so many Marvel comics, were created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. The original lineup consisted of Thor, Captain America, Hulk, Ant-Man, Wasp, and Iron-Man. Captain America did not appear for the first few issues when the team discovered him in the ice.
