Engelbert Humperdinck, the singer, whose real name is Arnold George Dorsey, was originally not believed to have written or composed any songs for Tom Jones, whose own real name is Thomas Jones Woodward. They were often compared to each other, however; a large part of this might have had to do with the facts that both were proteges of British music producer and impressario Gordon Mills and that both recorded on the same record label, the Parrot Records label, in the earliest phases of their respective careers.
THE ABOVE ANSWER IS, IN FACT, FALSE.
Engelbert Humperdinck wrote the song "This and That" which Tom Jones recorded in his early career.
The last person who answered this question did so without actually knowing the facts, yet answered the question anyway.
What confuses many people about this question was that Mr. Humperdinck, when he wrote and composed "This And That" for Mr. Jones, used the pen name of Gerry Dorsey when he did.
He is not. he is from wales UK. He just tanned a lot like many of his Las Vegas peers. see Wayne Newton for examples.
Tom Jones has written:
'Tom Jones, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Norm Crosby'
"It's Not Unusual" was the first UK number one single by Tom Jones. The song is from Tom Jones debut album "Along Came Jones".

Tom Jones comes from Wales, which is part of the United Kingdom. Therefore Tom Jones can be considered 'Welsh' and 'British'
At the time of answering this question (October 31st, 2013), Tom Jones is 73 years old.
No its not, its a song sung by Billy Paul.
The title is confusing.
Tom Jones did a cover but its hard to find that version on internet.
According to Wikipedia:
Jones married Melinda Trenchard on March 2, 1957, and had a son named Mark..
Gordon Mills, Jones's long-time manager, died of cancer. Jones's son Mark became his manager..
He also has a son, Jonathan Berkery; mother is Katherine Berkery
Obviously that answer varies by country. In the UK, Jones hit No.1 on the singles charts with "It's Not Unusual" in 1965 and "Green, Green Grass Of Home" in 1967.
In the US, although he had several Top 10 and Top 20 hits, his highest charting single was 1971's "She's A Lady", which peacked at No. 2. In terms of total sales Jones easily topped the million mark with "She's A Lady" in the US as well as "without Love" (US#5, 1970), and "I'll Never Fall In Love Again" (US#6, 1969).
However, Jones did hit No. 1 on the Country charts in the US, in Feb 1977 with the title track of his 1976 album "Say You'll Stay Until Tomorrow", which also hit #15 on the regular US singles chart. Jones became the first act in the rock era to hit No.1 on the counry charts with their very first ever counry single (Bon Jovi recently matched that feat).
None of Jones albums hit No. 1 in the US, although nine different albums were certified Gold for a million plus sales. Among them were "Help Yourself", "Live In LAs Vegas", and "This Is Tom Jones", each one peaking in the Top 5 of the US album charts but missing out on No. 1.
Jones hasn't recorded many duets, save for an album of duets released in the UK in the early part of the decade.
On television Jones has performed with Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin, Tanya Tucker, Tina Turner, Lynn Anderson, Johnny Cash, Stevie Wonder, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Joe Cocker, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Sammy Davis Jr, Bobby Darrin, and Tony Bennett to name a few. He performed at charity concert organized by Sting in the mid 90's, sharing the stage with Sting. He's also collaborated with but not sung with Bono & Edge from U2 and Lenny Kravitz.
It was Nashville song writer, Curly Putnum in 1964. This country song about a condemned prisoner who longs to escape to the green, green grass of home was inspired by a crime scene in the film The Asphalt Jungle. Nashville songwriter Curly Putnam wrote it in 1964 and it was initially recorded by country singer Johnny Darrell. Tom Jones decided to record this after hearing a version by Jerry Lee Lewis, a legendary Rocker who had started making Country records. A year after Johnny Darrell's original version, Lewis recorded this on his album Country Songs For City Folks
Mick sang stay free, lost in the supermarket, im not down, 1-2 Crush on you, Gates of the West, Hate and War, Protex Blue, Should I Stay or Should I go, Train in Vain, The Card Cheat. Jones also duetted with Strummer on Rudie Can't Fail and Clampdown.
He has a beautiful voice:)
