So the goddesses offered him rewards. Hera's was high honors by the people of his land, Athena's was success in war, and Aphrodite's was the love of the most beautiful woman to be found. Paris picked Aphrodite's offer. Years later, he found out that he was actually the prince of Troy, abandoned because he was destined to bring tragedy to his city. His father, the king of Troy, sent him on a mission to retrieve Paris's sister from a Grecian King, who was holding her captive. On the way, Aphrodite blew Paris's ship off coarse, and he landed in Sparta, Greece. The king, Menelaus, invited Paris into his palace, and Paris saw his wife, Helen. He immediately fell in love. She saw him shortly after, and she fell in love as well. a week or two later, when Menelaus was gone, they ran away to Troy. Menelaus was so mad that he declared war on Troy.
