The printed year is often kept the same for a particular design regardless of the actual year of issue, while the series letter is changed following the appointment of a new Treasurer (or much less often, Treasury Secretary). $50 notes for 1950 were issued in 6 series - no letter, and 1950A through 1950E. E-series notes can be worth $25 to $50 above face value if circulated, more if crisp uncirculated. The other 5 series are worth less, anywhere from face value to $25 above; again, more if crisp uncirculated.
The demand for these is much less than the supply. Unless yours is an absolute gem crisp uncirculated note, you're not going to get any premium for it. If it's a gem, you might get $70-$80 if you can find an interested buyer.
