Well, no more than it has already taken over the world. Bioelectronics has some exciting possibilities in the unity of healthcare and nanotechnology, but so far Alphabet's investments (as Google's parent company) are not significantly more than anyone else's. In fact, the company that it is creating, called Galvani Bioelectronics, will be only 45% owned by Verily (the branch of Alphabet/Google that is making the investment) and 55% owned by Glasko-Smith-Kline. So, a Google company will have a stake in this exciting technology, but so far at least, it won't be taking over the world.

The application of electronics to biology and medicine has resulted in vital healthcare technology such as electrocardiography, the cardiac pacemaker, the blood glucose meter and magnetic resonance imaging. The next generation of healthcare technology will be enabled by bioelectronics, a frontier discipline emerging at the interfaces of electronics and electrical engineering, biology, physics, chemistry and materials science. By spanning and integrating these diverse subject areas, bioelectronics will revolutionize how we interact with, measure and understand biological systems, enabling advanced technology from lab-on-a-chip biomedical diagnoses to implantable neural interfaces. This paradigm shift will have enormous impact in improving the quality and reducing the cost of healthcare and will also enable a cleaner environment and enhanced national security.
