Modern silver as we know it canot be made without removing mass to create the legal sterling silver density. We may never know all the secrets of refining silver. It was believed to be started in the citi of Hittites in the country known as Turkey. Silver is a very soft metal second only to gold. Silver is rarely found by itself or in large amounts. It is always mixed with other metals and must be separated from these metals by refining. 50 different minerals have been known to find silver in them, but the tiny particals of silver are so scaterd its not practical to retrieve them. Only 6 silver bearing ores are important. the ores contain large amounts of lead, zink, copper, gold and silver. At time all 5 metals were discoverd in the same ore, Please don't be mistaken there are a few pure, or native, silver deposits in the world.

Ok, wake up! I'm gonna cut to the chase:

1-You mine for ore and break up the large pieces. also known as milling or concentrating the ore.

2-the ball mill where dozens of steel balls weighing 10 tons hit the ore until it is in 1-inch pieces.

3- Its tested for the other metal volumes.

4- It is grounded into suger like grannuals.

5- A flotation tank where silver, gold and other metals are combined with lead and rise to the top as a frothy mass to be skimmed off.

6- The ore is known now as a consentrate and is very rich.

7- The rich ore goes to the blast furnace where the ore seperates once again and is now named lead bullion.

Anyhoo, basically zink is added and removed by distillation remaining lead by cupellation, and FINALLY an electric current is passed through the conditioned ore (Electrolysis). The siver collects aroundone of the electric polls. The pure silver is cast into1,200-ounce troy bars for marketing.

Hope your still awake. It almost sounds like a licenced electrolysis could hook up with one of our good ole boy moonshiners. Cuppulate and have some expensive drunk kids named sterling, troy or silver.
