not all DVD players are compatible with all formats of DVD disc, there's your problem

DVD camcorders have made it possible to record your home movies onto a DVD disc that can be immediately played back in your DVD player. There are lots of great DVD camcorders out on the consumer market today to choose from. You can use dvd camcorder to record all your sweet memories in a dvd which can be viewed any time you like.

The DVDs that you can rewrite many times are a DVD-RW and a DVD+RW. You can also rewrite a DVD-RAM more than once.

Are you certain that it's a DVD drive? If you only have a CD drive it won't read DVD's, and you'll need to upgrade to a DVD drive. If it's more than a couple years old it's probably a CD drive.

To find out, open the "Device Manager" on your computer, then DVD/CD-ROM drives, then expand your CD/DVD. (select the little + to the left)

Click "properties" then examine the tabs across the top.

If there are 5 tabs they probably say something like "General", "Properties", "Volumes", "Driver", "Details". If that's what it says, you have a CD-Drive and it won't read DVD's.

On the other hand, if you have an additional tab that says "DVD Region", it's a DVD drive and it should be able to read DVD's.
