Yes.His father,Peleus, was the king of Phthia(which is located in Larisa of Thessaly, where today there is a city called "Farsala")and his mother,"Thetis", came from an island of the Aegean sea(which is why she was believed to be a sea nymph). His descendants today are believed to be the Vlachs that live on the mountain Pindos, because they are the only ones that own the characteristical "molossus",a specific breed of shepherd dogs that only the descendants from Achilles, the "Molossians" (who were a well known greek tribe) used to own from the ancient times. No other greek tribe owned these dogs, which is why the Molossians gave to this breed of dog their name (molossus).
